I read with interest "Grading the president one year after the Tucson speech," wherein the authors documented that President Obama has failed to heed his own call for more civility since the speech he gave shortly after the tragic shooting of Congresswomen Gabrielle Giffords and several others.
What they don't mention is the hypocrisy of the president in bringing the subject of civility up in his Tucson speech in the first place.
His words supported the theory that it was inflammatory political rhetoric from Republicans that caused the shootings, a storyline gleefully advanced by many prominent Democrats and various media outlets in the weeks following the incident.
Democrats ought to try just once practicing what they preach.
